The iPad Pro reportedly has an issue that causes it to power off while charging, with owners of the new tablet – which went on sale on last week – taking to Apple's Support Communities forum en masse to complain.

The problem seems to be that the slate powers off while charging, and can only be restored by a hard
reset.

As one user wrote: "At night it was down to 40 per cent so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was 'dead'. It wouldn't wake up.

"I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day.

"Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on."

Numerous others say they have had the same problem.

Apple is yet to comment on the issue.

If you have the same problem, you can perform a hard reset by holding down the power and home buttons for 10 seconds.

Some users also report turning on Airplane mode during charging stops the device backing up to iCloud, and mitigates the issue.

The iPad Pro is the firm's biggest tablet ever and comes in at 12.9 inches across. Its big USP is Apple Pencil, a stylus for drawing and writing on-screen.
